Trilateral Research has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Analyst to join our Innovation & Research Team. You will deliver Trilateral's research commitments in the EU-funded iToBoS, CLIMOS, and ClimAir research projects. The successful candidate will develop thought leadership, create impact, and advance business development for the health cluster.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:


Project Delivery:

Oversee and support the completion of the iToBoS project that is developing an AI diagnostic platform for the early detection of melanoma. This will include:

  • Developing recommendations for future implementation of AI in the medical context, based on existing privacy, data protection ethical and social impact assessment.
  • Supporting data scientists in the ethics and algorithmic transparency technical tasks.
  • Supporting ongoing communication and dissemination activities.


Contribute to the CLIMOS project which aims to assist mitigation of climate change-induced emergence, transmission and spread of vector-borne and zoonotic pathogens, specifically sand fly-borne diseases across Europe. This will include:

  • Supporting the work package on market research for the project outputs, delivering a plan for exploitation, production, and scale-up activities.
  • Supporting ongoing privacy, data protection, social and ethics compliance reporting.


Lead and execute work in the ClimAir project that will expand the evidence-based understanding of climate change, air pollution, and non-communicable respiratory diseases using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. This will include:

  • Developing ethical and legal AI frameworks and implementing across all work packages in the project.
  • Developing XAI methodologies for trustworthy AI health impact predictions.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of secure federated learning models for AI training.


Business Development:

  • Independently lead and contribute to funding applications and expand knowledge of funding schemes.
  • Other responsibilities include strategy delivery, research impact and team development.

Job requirements

Required Education and experience:

Essential:

  • PhD in health research (e.g., public health, health-services research, social care, medical law, ethics, and/or data protection).
  • 2-3 years post-doctoral experience in coordinating or leading work in one or more research projects and delivering successful research outputs.
  • Proven track record of client management.
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.

Desirable:

  • Experience in conducting impact assessments.
  • Developing and executing data management plans.
  • Conducting policy analysis and developing policy recommendations.


General Knowledge and Technical Skills:

Essential:

  • Good understanding of ethical, social, legal, privacy and/or data protection issues related to healthcare technology.
  • Knowledge of development and deployment of AI solutions within the health context.
  • Advanced research, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent skills in project management.
  • Experience managing and/or working in multi-partner projects and working as part of inter-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience in writing research proposals and/or tenders and developing funding relationships.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Experience in and/or familiarity with EU-funded projects.
  • Risk management skills.
  • Good understanding of the relationship between the environment, climate (change) and health.

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Established organisational and planning skills.
  • Flexibility to effectively manage tasks in multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate across and outside the organisation.

  • People management skills.

Location: This position is open to candidates based in the Republic of Ireland

Start date: ASAP

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Hours: Full-time

Contract type: 12-month fixed-term contract

Compensation package includes: Competitive salary, enhanced holiday entitlement increasing with service, company sick pay and family friendly pay, flexible working hours, remote working/working from home options and enhanced pension scheme based on service.
