Trilateral Research is recruiting for a Research Impact Officer for a 12-month maternity cover contract, located in Ireland.


As part of the Innovation & Research team, you will lead the communication, dissemination and exploitation activities for the PREPARE-REHAB project and support these activities in the ATHENA and TRANSCEND projects. This role will develop, contribute to and implement dissemination and communication strategies in other research projects and proposals as required.

Key responsibilities to include but not limited to:


Research impact & communication activities:

  • Lead the dissemination and communication activities of allocated projects and collaborate with project lead and external project partners, including coordination and chairing of monthly meetings.
  • Develop, contribute to and/or implement dissemination and communication strategies in other research projects and proposals as required.
  • Sourcing and generating content (e.g., press releases, blogs, newsletters, and other innovative channels/tools etc.) that effectively raises awareness about research outputs.
  • Managing and developing content for project social media channels.
  • Creating and managing content for research project websites (using standard content management systems such as WordPress).
  • Working with the graphic designer to produce communication materials (e.g., website, posters, brochures, infographics, videos, etc.) for the project that can also be leveraged for Trilateral marketing channels (e.g., social media, website).
  • Supporting (online) event organisation (e.g., setting up and managing registrations, online platforms, circulating invitations and generally promoting the event) and post-event evaluation.
  • Monitoring project dissemination and communication activities and related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the efficacy of the implemented strategies.
  • Leverage research outputs to promote Trilateral’s thought leadership and subject matter expertise and create impact.


Project management & support:

  • Ensure independent, effective and timely delivery of contributions to projects (including research, as required, reports, other outputs) in direct communication with project leads, manager and/or clients and partners.
  • Escalate project management issues and risks to Cluster Lead/Research Communications Manager.
  • Record timesheets and collaborate with Research Finance for accurate reporting to external partners and clients at various milestones.
  • Represent Trilateral at project meetings and external events.


Business development:

  • Contribute to department strategic dissemination and communication activities in funding applications and preparation of proposals.
  • Undertake research communications activities to support business development (e.g., contribute to the development of I&R promotional material, identify relevant contacts and networking).


Team development:

  • Contribute to department research specific trainings on research communications and impact.
  • Mentor project and cluster leads and I&R team members (upon request) on project/subject matter expertise.

Job requirements

Required education and experience:

Essential:

  • Professional writing and publishing experience of blogs/news items, magazine articles and/or other popular press materials.
  • A relevant degree/qualification to support key responsibilities or proven experience in a relevant field (e.g., science communications, media communications, journalism).
  • Proven experience of working on EU-funded projects (e.g., FP7, Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe).
  • Experience in developing communication strategies and plans.
  • Experience in social media management.


Desirable:

  • Experience in writing communication sections and dissemination tasks in funding applications.
  • Experience in developing exploitation strategies for research projects.
  • Experience of working in international and remote teams.


Professional knowledge and technical skills:

Essential:

  • Demonstrable writing skills.
  • Stong presentation and summarising skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in communicating scientific concepts.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.


Desirable:

  • Project management skills.

Location: This position is open to candidates based in the Republic of Ireland

Contract type: 12-month fixed-term, Maternity Cover Contract

Start date: ASAP

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Hours: Full-time
